In 2015, I was a 36 year old married Dad with 2 kids, and after losing my own Dad suddenly and getting through a massive unpaid business debt, I was left wondering what the rest of my life meant for me and how I could change my life.
I felt lost, unworthy and like a failure even though from the outside everything looked great.
I really wanted to take control of my life so that I could show up as the Man and Dad I wanted to be, realize my true potential and leave my mark on the world. All I wanted to do was discover what I was put in this world to do and realise my true potential.
Nobody in my circle of friends and relatives had ever done anything like this, let alone a 36 year old guy like me who sold industrial parts for a living. This meant I had nobody to speak to about my struggles or how I could find a way out of it.
To make matters worse, I got frustrated and depressed with myself because I wanted to fix how I was feeling but simply didn’t know how to. I constantly felt unworthy and not enough. This was compounded because the more I looked for a solution the more elusive it seemed. I ended up flailing around, and distant from my family. I wasn’t showing up as the Husband and Father I wanted to be and I felt like a failure. I knew there was a problem but I couldn’t find a way out.
I felt I was all alone, I felt that I was the only Dad that felt this way, that my life was destined to remain the same forever and that I would forever be the round peg trying to fit in a square hole. I just wanted to give up and slip back into my old life.
Then, out of nowhere something amazing happened……
I heard a podcast on the way to work one day featuring a guy that had gone through the exact same thing I was going through and had found a way through it. He was now living life on his terms. At that point I realised that I wasn’t alone in feeling the way I did, and that there was a way to change how I felt.
Other Men had done it so why not me?
This changed everything.
I was able to join with other Men on a similar journey to my own and begin to change my life dramatically.
I had a rough idea of what I wanted my life to look like but I had no idea how to get there.
I followed a proven plan to create a vision for myself in 4 key areas of life and I started working on myself to become a better Man and Dad in those 4 key areas of my life.
Instead of what I was previously doing which was haphazardly (and unsuccessfully) taking a stab at improving in one or two areas of my life, with no plan or system.
I went to work on my mental health, my physical health, my relationships, and how I contributed to the world around me.
But I didn’t stop there.....
I then started to use a simple system to record and track my progress
And I did all of this I did within a community of likeminded Men and Dads who were on similar journeys to me.
I no longer felt alone, and I was no longer trying to figure it out alone.
My life transformed dramatically as working towards a Vision gave me the things I desperately craved -
Purpose, Fulfilment and Meaning.
But there was still a problem……
I wanted to use what I had learned on my own journey to help other Men and Dads just like me.
I wanted to help Men and Dads really open their minds to the possibilities that existed in their lives, get inspired and start to make massive changes.
That was when I created Guild of Dads as a Podcast and Movement, which seemed logical as I am a Dad myself and through my own process I knew what Dads were going through.
This allowed me to really connect with my Dads just like me in a way that I had never done before and discuss subjects weekly that were really relevant to Dads. I began to get feedback from Dads that what I was talking about really resonated. It felt amazing and uplifting knowing that I was making a difference and Guild of Dads being 100% my creation has given me tremendous confidence, satisfaction, purpose and meaning.
4 things I was struggling to find before.
I have had the privilege of speaking weekly to some of the TOP EXPERTS on the planet on my podcast and COMBINING this, with what I have learned on my own journey I have created for you:
